Expansions:
- china took over different parts of east Asia, mostly Korea and Vietnam.
- In Korea they had a Silla dynasty. Both Tang and Silla decided to avoid argument and agreed to let Korea run itself as long as the Silla king recognized the Tang Emperor as his overlord.
- Envoys, also called messengers, from silla dynasty would often deliver gifts to the Chinese emperors. In return, the Koreans they received valuable gifts.
- Overall, the tributary relationship provided Korean Merchants to trade in China
- Chinese relations with Vietnam were more tense than with Korea.
- The Viets wouldn't give in as easily as the Koreans did, so there was more of a struggle here than in Korea.
- The Viets adopted Chinese agricultural methods and irrigation systems, as well as Chinese schools and administrative techniques.
- Viets were influenced to Buddhism and bureaucracy.
